Steptoe farms is comprised of 3,000 total acres which incorporates three separate farms from Lages junction to Indian Creek in the Steptoe Valley of White Pine County, NV. Steptoe has water rights that allow it to irrigate 2,274 of the 3,000 acres. The irrigated acres are serviced by nineteen pivots: eight pivots are located at the North Farm, five pivots at the Middle Farm, and the remaining six pivots are located at the South Farm. The water for these pivots is provided by twenty wells located near each one of the pivot locations. Because of quality underground water, electric pivot irrigation, and good soil the farm grows premium high country alfalfa which it has sent all across the country. The farms sit close to 6,000 feet elevation. At this elevation, the hay grows slow, giving the alfalfa high nutritional value and protein that the hay consumers are looking for over all three cuttings. The hay is soft, with medium stem size, and big leaves all hallmarks of quality hay grown on our area. Visit http://helloarti.com/view/20614 for additional information.
