The City of Barstow is located in the Inland Empire North region of San Bernardino County, midway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Barstow is in the western Mojave Desert at the entrance to the Mojave National Preserve. It is home to the U.S. Army National Training Center at Ft. Irwin; Marine Corps Logistics Base, Barstow; NASA’s. Historical attractions include: Calico Ghost Town, the state’s official Silver Rush Ghost Town as designated by state legislation in July 2005. 1881 marked the beginning of one of the largest silver strikes in California history and the birth of Calico. “The Historic Harvey House", a landmark on the National Register of Historic Places, was designed by Francis Wilson and constructed by the Santa Fe Railroad in 1911.
