Wally Sargent

Wally Sargent started Santa Fe Properties in the Fall of 1986 and grew it to Santa Fe's premiere locally owned and managed real estate brokerage. A fourth-generation Santa Fean with over 40 years experience in real estate brokerage and development, Wally is one of the most respected business people in Santa Fe. Both of his grandfathers were mayors of Santa Fe. His mother – “Shorty” – made history as one of Santa Fe’s most popular teachers for 30 years before becoming a Realtor® herself; his grandfather built the original St. Francis Hotel. During his teen years, Wally had a dance band called Wally Sargent and His Major Keys. Wally played piano, and Sam Pick, former mayor of Santa Fe, was one of the saxophone players. Wally graduated from the Colorado State College of Education. He taught school for seven years, sold real estate on the side, and then went full-time into real estate. Wally has served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the Santa Fe Association of Realtors®, President of the Santa Fe Festival of the Arts and, in 1999, was awarded the Realtor® Century Award in appreciation for exceptional leadership and distinguished service for 40 years! He has been honored by his fellow Realtors® by being named 2003 Realtor® of the Year by the Santa Fe Association of Realtors®.
