An important and unique aspect of my career is that I worked my way up from hotel operations at exclusive properties managed by Hilton Hotels and the Hyatt Hotel Corporation to overseeing high end Independent and Assisted Living Communities with Brookdale Senior Living. The attitudes and perspectives I learned from those organizations have had an enormous impact on how I view my role, and that of my staff, in providing an exceptional living community for seniors. First, my goal is to create a culture where employees are engaged and invested in resident’s satisfaction. I manage a highly selective recruiting process, and then establish an infrastructure where employees are recognized for achievements, respected for providing their opinions, and are motivated by their role in the facility’s success. Second, I collaborate with the sales department to provide insight into the sales process. With over 10 years of sales experience in this market, I know what strategies and messaging will be effective to attract quality residents to the property. I have also been successful when requesting residents to invite their friends to an open house / prospecting event, which is indicative of our skills in ensuring their satisfaction. Additionally, I know how to build a referral pipeline by cultivating strategic partnerships with local hospitals and physicians. My success in maintaining a 91% occupancy rate, increasing NOI by 16% in 2 years to $9M, receiving an award for the Greatest Percent Year on Year Gain for NOI, as well as Resident Satisfaction Surveys that consistently receive high marks are tangible evidence of my leadership, sales and operations management skills.
