Richard is a principal of Guefen. Richard’s experience includes work as the General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Investments at Asset Plus Companies, a third party property manager of over 45,000 units and 125,000 student housing beds throughout the US, Mexico and Colombia, as well as a developer and acquirer of student housing and multifamily assets. Richard began his career as a corporate legal associate with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP before moving to McDermott, Will & Emery LLP and later to Latham & Watkins LLP as part of their corporate and finance groups. In addition, since 2010, Richard has served as acting Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Bratten Realty, a family-owned real estate company focused on building, acquiring, and operating multifamily, office, and vacation properties throughout the US. Richard received his JD and MBA, with a concentration in finance, from Vanderbilt University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering and BA in Humanities from the University of Texas at Austin.
