Michael Kollender

Mr. Kollender is head of Ryan Beck & Co.'s Middle Market Investment Banking Group. In addition to Mr. Kollender's responsibilities overseeing the group's strategic direction, he is involved in public offerings, private placements, mergers and acquisitions and financial advisory activities for the firm's clients. Mr. Kollender's primary industry focus is in the consumer and business services sectors including specialty retail, direct marketing, education, leisure and restaurants. In addition, he has completed numerous transactions in the technology and healthcare arena. Mr. Kollender is a member of Ryan Beck's Executive Committee and has additional responsibilities for the firm's acquisitions, divestitures and corporate development. Prior to joining Ryan Beck, Mr. Kollender, spent five years at Josephthal & Co. Inc., most recently as a Managing Director, Partner and Director of the Consumer Group. At Josephthal, Mr. Kollender was responsible for several precedent setting assignments, including the firm's largest M&A transaction, highly successful public offerings and numerous financial advisory assignments for both companies and venture capital funds including Healthcare Investment Corporation (one of the nation's largest biotech venture capital funds). Before joining Josephthal, Mr. Kollender was a senior manager at BDO Seidman, servicing a wide range of clients including financial services companies, Securities and Exchange Commission registrants, and various multinational organizations. Currently, Mr. Kollender is active at the Board level with numerous public, privately held and not-for-profit organizations and served as a Director of Vacation Break USA, Inc. (NASDAQ: VBRK) until its merger with Fairfield Communities, Inc. (NYSE: FFD). Mr. Kollender is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the JCC on the Palisades. Mr. Kollender is a frequent lecturer on a broad array of topics including the capital markets, initial public offerings and mergers & acquisitions. Mr. Kollender received a B.S. from Syracuse University and is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
