
Hofheinz is the Director and Team Leader for real estate debt originations for the northeastern United States for MetLife, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing an $11 billion real estate debt portfolio, managing a team of 4 loan originators and 2 loan managers, and sourcing, executing, negotiating, and servicing real estate debt transactions. Since joining MetLife in 2004, he led his team in over $20 billion of commercial mortgage transactions, including, whole loans, B-Notes, mezzanine loans, and high-yield mortgages, for MetLife’s General Account, Commercial Mortgage Income Fund, and Separate Account clients. Hofheinz spent 2 years leading MetLife’s Capital Markets Group which consists of 5 professionals who originate warehouse lines of credit, subscription lines, and loan-on-loan financing. During this time, the team was able to increase commitments from $3 billion to $4 billion. Prior to joining MetLife, Hofheinz spent 4 years as a Vice President in Merrill Lynch’s Real Estate Capital Markets Group where he originated and closed over $1 billion in commercial mortgage transactions for securitization. Hofheinz began his real estate career in Prudential’s Real Estate Analyst Program. During this two year program, he was responsible for modeling CMBS structures and running due diligence on loans slated for securitization. At the end of the program, he was promoted to an Associate and was responsible for sourcing and underwriting bridge loans for Prudential’s Interim Loan Program.
