Michael Byer

I have lived in Colorado for over 20 years. Originally from Evanston, Illinois, I fell in love with the Rocky Mountains while visiting my older brother in Steamboat Springs. I headed westward when I turned 18 years old and have called Colorado home ever since. I attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs and graduated in 4 years with a bachelor’s degree in biology and Spanish. During that time, I had the opportunity to live and work abroad in Majorca, Spain, where I learned to speak fluent Spanish. I was on track toward entering the medical field when I had a change of heart. I decided to take time to soul-search and explore other passions before entering a different career path. In 2012, I moved to Crestone, Colorado in the San Luis Valley where my older brother had settled. I was able to help his grocery business during its transition from its original space to a larger, more central location. It was also during this time that I met my wife, Sabra, who was living in Salida. My love of the Upper Arkansas River Valley as well as my desire to make this area a permanent home for my family has driven me to pursue a career in real estate. I have a strong work ethic and loyal nature, both qualities that perfectly align with the mission of Western Mountain Real Estate.
