Born and raised in Manhattan, Matthew Lesser joined Leslie J. Garfield & Co. in 2005. In 2014, Matthew was named Senior Partner of the firm. As Managing Director of The Lesser Team, Matthew has led his team to be the premiere townhouse experts within Leslie J. Garfield & Co. that covers Manhattan and Brooklyn. Notable mentions for The Lesser Team include being ranked #6 in New York and #32 nationwide in transaction volume (REAL Trends 2021 rankings as seen in the Wall Street Journal) and noted as one of New York's Top 15 Real Estate Agents in The Hollywood Reporter. Matthew has represented over $2 billion in residential, commercial, and institutional real estate, and has been responsible for the sale and leasing of over 175 properties. He has been consistently ranked a “Top 100 Residential Agent” by The Real Deal Magazine. Matt is frequently noted in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, NY Times, NY Post, The Real Deal Daily News, NY Observer and Real Estate Weekly. Some of Matthew’s notable sales include: - The sale of 12 East 63rd Street a single-family mansion last asking $63,000,000. - Brokered the sale of the Henry T. Sloane Mansion at 18 East 68th Street which sold for over $32,000,000. - Brokered the sale of three properties in the Jehovah's Witness Brooklyn Heights portfolio in excess of $175 million. - Set a record for the most expensive Upper West Side single-family townhouse in 2011 at 247 Central Park West for $22,375,000. - Acted as an advisor for the purchaser on 45 John Street which sold for $47,000,000. - Acted as a consultant to the purchaser of 14 Wall Street which sold for $303 million in 2012. - Set the record for the highest price per square foot paid on a West Village townhouse less than 20’-wide, at 41 Charles Street which sold for $14.5 million and $3,474 per/sq. ft. Matthew was a graduate of Trevor Day School in Manhattan and later earned a BS degree from Skidmore College with a Business Management major and an Economics minor. While at Skidmore, Matt played four years of Division III basketball. He remains active in the community as a member of both Friends of Skidmore Athletics and Friends of The President. Matthew is also a member of Sunningdale Country Club, Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), and Young Mens & Womens Real Estate Association (YMWREA). He currently resides in Scarsdale, New York with his wife Erin and their two children Riley and Jillian.
