Founder & Head of Acquisitions - FBR Investment Fund Matt brings a passion for real estate and over 19 years of industry expertise to FBR Investment Fund. Prior to real estate investing Matt was a practicing Doctor of Chiropractic, owning and managing 3 healthcare clinics in the Phoenix Valley. In 2004 Matt retired from the medical field and started flipping houses in the Phoenix market. He has flipped over 350 houses while working with high-net-worth private capital, giving partners exceptionally strong returns. As of September 2003 he has created an investor Fund which will yield 30% to 40% annual returns. The Fund is dedicated to flipping houses in the Phoenix market where Matt and his company find deeply discounted properties (60% to 75% of FMV) fix and flip them for quick profits. Investors receive 4% while their capital is undeployed in the Fund, a 13% pref rate of return while it it deployed in a deal and 20% of deal profits. Matt anticipates purchasing 20-30 properties a month with Fund I and will open up Fund II upon completion of Fund I's full investment. In addition to Matt's SFR investment background, he also began investing in multi-family properties in 2006 to include: development projects, value-add deals and apartment-to-condo conversions. Deal sizes include properties up to 200 units and $24M in value and total $50M to date. Matt is deeply involved in every part of an FBR deal, from finding and analyzing deeply discounted off-market deals, to contract negotiations and deal financing. Matt uses his creative vision to lead the repositioning of a property and has created the "pipeline system" which allows his company's in-house team and list of licensed trades to renovate a high volume of fix-n-flip properties.
