Matt Abbott is the Founder and Principal Partner of Abbott Properties, a Kansas City-based real estate development and management firm dedicated to not only rehabilitating buildings, but to transforming neighborhoods and building communities. Where other developers may see blight, Matt sees—and invests in—potential. Whether he’s participating in Ironman competitions or creating visions for properties, Matt remains focused on growth, possibilities, and empowerment through action. In 2017, in honor of his late son Carter and together with his wife, Emily, Matt created the Who Is Carter Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to inspiring and empowering families of children with brain damage—and, ultimately, anyone facing a personal tragedy or struggle. Matt is also the author of Who Is Carter?, a book about his experience and the foundation.
