Martin Petersen
Martin H. Petersen (“Pete”) has been active in the ownership and operation of apartment communities and commercial real estate properties since 1979. Pete’s real estate activity is conducted primarily through The Hallmark Companies, Inc. (“Hallmark”) of which he is the president and sole stockholder. As president, Pete oversees the property management, investment, and development of Hallmark’s multi-family portfolio located throughout the southeastern United States. He also concentrates on working with lenders, syndicators, and investment partners to form strategic relationships within the industry. Hallmark is an Atlanta based holding company that consists of several wholly owned subsidiary companies. These companies allow Hallmark to provide a broad range of real estate services. Hallmark Management, Inc. and Sherwood Management Company, Inc. provide day-to-day property management and accounting services, while Hallmark Development Services, LLC administers the development, construction, and renovation efforts for Hallmark. Hallmark currently has a portfolio of approximately 250 multi-family properties with over 11,000 units located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee. This multi-family portfolio is diverse in nature and includes conventional “market-rate,” HUD, Rural Development (FmHA) 515, and LIHTC financed units. Hallmark operates from its headquarters in Atlanta, GA and also maintains smaller offices in Gainesville, Florida and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Pete has lived in Atlanta, Georgia for over 45 years and received a BBA from Emory University in 1971 and an MBA in Real Estate Finance from Georgia State University in 1975. Pete currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia and enjoys gardening, traveling, and spending time with both his dog and family in his free time.
