Lorenzo J. Cavaliere began working for the Cavaliere Companies at the early age of 15. Founded by his father, John (Gino) Cavaliere, in 1962, Cavaliere Companies had established itself in the metropolitan Detroit construction industry through its superior underground utility work, paving and design/build services. Hands-on experience in utility buildout and flat work armed Mr. Cavaliere with the civil background necessary to launch his own career in real estate. After studying construction management and finance at Michigan State University, Mr. Cavaliere returned in 1992 to form Boulder Construction, a construction and development affiliate of his father’s firm. Boulder Construction’s early developments include multifamily and professional office projects throughout the Macomb County (MI) area. Mr. Cavaliere developed and marketed over 400 residential units from 1992 to 1997, executing all site development, vertical construction and sales activities. Throughout this time, Mr. Cavaliere began growing Cavaliere Companies and Boulder Construction into one of the largest integrated real estate services firms in southeast Michigan. Mr. Cavaliere extended his firm’s operations to include industrial, office, senior housing, hospitality and retail developments. Enabling such rapid growth was Cavaliere’s diversified proprietary design and management teams. Mr. Cavaliere leveraged in-house civil engineering expertise to form Boulder Design in 2001, further differentiating the firm in its ability to go from concept to delivery in an expedited fashion. Though only formally established in 2004, Sky Property Management has managed the Cavaliere portfolio for five decades. Today, the Cavaliere portfolio maintains just under 2.5 million square feet of assets developed and managed by internal resources. Mr. Cavaliere employs an intricate knowledge of his tenant-clients’ needs to grow Cavaliere’s already extensive portfolio. Through research and understanding of urgent care facilities and multiple medical disciplines, Mr. Cavaliere has developed projects for a multitude of medical systems and private practice groups from the following hospital systems: St. John Health System, Detroit Medical Center, Oakwood Healthcare System, Beaumont Hospitals, and St. Joseph Mercy Medical Center. Mr. Cavaliere has also developed tenant suites for several municipal, county and state agencies, further extending the firm’s relationships with government entities. The end result is a true partnering with Cavaliere’s core customers, thus yielding stable, long-term returns and a solid foundation from which to grow his firm’s portfolio. Mr. Cavaliere continues to stay politically active in his home state of Michigan.
