Lisa J. Rosenthal has been working in real estate and related fields for over 30 years. She has extensive experience with development, public private partnerships and leasing. Because of her vast and eclectic knowledge she is often quoted in the fashion and real estate trade presses (Women’s Wear Daily, The Real Deal, The Commercial Observer, Crain’s, Shopping Center Business and others). Ms Rosenthal began her career working in development and doing commercial leasing for Harry Macklowe. At Macklowe she worked on the development, marketing and sales/leasing of numerous commercial/office properties. Having worked for an owner she is very aware owners’ sensitivities and multiple needs. Ms. Rosenthal also has extensive public/private partnership experience having worked for the 34th Street Partnership and Bryant Park Restoration Corp., two of midtown Manhattan’s largest Business Improvement Districts (BID), for 12 years. At the BIDS Ms. Rosenthal improved the quality of life within the BID boundaries, by successfully bring streetscape improvements and changing the perception of the districts from rundown neighborhoods to the dynamic much sought after commercial communities they are today. She did this by understanding the zoning code, and working with landlords, lenders, appraisers, brokers, the press and City government agencies. She also directly recruited commercial and retail tenants. After joining Lansco in 2008, Ms. Rosenthal was part of the Lansco team that won the coveted Real Estate Board of New York Award for most creative deal in 2010, for arranging for Syms/ Filenes lease of 35,000 SF in 530 Fifth Avenue. Ms. Rosenthal represents numerous fashion brands as well as works on project oriented landlord representation. She has been an active member of the Lansco team leasing the TurnStyle project at Columbus Circle subway station. Ms. Rosenthal figured out how to make subway retail sexy and brought a majority of the tenants to the project. Ms Rosenthal brings her skills as geographer to all the projects she works on. Sites have to be evaluated not only for the characteristics of the physical store but also in context to their neighborhood, circulation paths, transportation and other retailers. Her geography training is helpful particularly when working with clients on national strategies. Ms. Rosenthal has a BA/MA in Geography for the University of Chicago and an MBA from Columbia School of Business.
