Kimberly Owens
Focuses her practice on the needs of the Nuveen affiliates
Kimberly serves as Global Head of Legal for the Nuveen Natural Capital business unit. She has responsibility for legal operations which includes providing litigation, transactional and corporate integration and subsidiary governance services to timber and agriculture investments and operations globally. Prior to Nuveen Natural Capital, Kimberly served as General Counsel of GreenWood Resources, Inc. In her 28 years of practice, she has developed experience in bankruptcy, real estate, real estate finance, fund formation and mergers and acquisitions -- closing the acquisitions of Nuveen subsidiaries, Westchester, TH Real Estate and Nuveen and providing key legal support to the TIAA Strategy and Development Group. Kimberly joined TIAA in 2004 and served as part of the Real Estate group focusing on acquisition, disposition, and commercial mortgages and leasing. Prior to TIAA, Kimberly practiced at the law firms of McGuire Woods and Kilpatrick Stockton, specializing in securitized lending, leasing, and bankruptcy. She served as law clerk in the Western District of North Carolina to Chief Bankruptcy Judge George R. Hodges. Kimberly earned a J.D. with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994, graduating as a member of the Order of the Barristers. Kimberly earned her undergraduate degree with highest honors from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1991.
