
Joseph has been in the tourism and hospitality business for over 40 years and timeshare since 1983. His background includes the management of hotels and resorts, golf courses, restaurants, timeshare and condominiums. He has extensive background in the start-up and continued long term success of resort management, rental and sales. Until 2007, he was the President of Vacation Resorts International; a timeshare condominium management company with then nearly 150 locations throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada. He was responsible for the growth of client contracts which ultimately made VRI one of the largest timeshare management companies in the United States with annual maintenance fee collections of nearly $100M; and a highly successful sales, resales and rental program of approximately $50M annually. During his tenure, VRI grew from approximately 35 resorts in 1989. Today Joseph is the corporate broker for VRI as well as RedWeek Real Estate, RedWeek being the largest online seller of timeshare. In June of 2007, Mr. Takacs formed TheMVPService, LLC, a company dedicated to establishing a broad scale commissions based timeshare secondary market. Today, MVP is proud to be associated with timeshare associations representing over 1,100 units. Then in 2018 Joseph and Dana formed TOWB LLC; a company dedicated to transparency in timeshare. Towb’s mission is to help legacy HOA’s, management companies, lenders and timeshare sales and marketing companies with honest advice centered on aggressive strategies including the repurpose of timeshare resorts in whole or part – the end being sales of whole condos. He holds a PHD from The Academy of Economic Studies (ASE) in Bucharest Romania in International Management with a focus on the integration of hospitality graduates into the workforce; and an MBA from Anna Maria College in Boston MA. He is licensed in 31 states as a Real Estate Broker (a license he first held in 1983 in SC); a Community Association Manager (CAM) in Florida; and is a member of the LTRBA (Licensed Timeshare Resale Brokers Association). He also holds a Registered Resort Professional (RRP) designation from the American Resort Development Association (ARDA). Joseph has served on numerous Boards of Directors for timeshare and condominium associations around the U.S. dating back nearly 40 years. Joseph is a teaching Professor at Tiffin University/Bucharest, Romania campus; currently teaching Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Ethics and Decision Making and HR Management; each as part of the number one ranked Masters Program in Romania. He also teaches at Emanuel University in Oradea, Romania; in the Griffiths School of Management. The current undergraduate curriculum includes Entrepreneurship-Successfully Launching New Ventures, Fundamentals of Selling-Customers for Life, Foundations of Financial Management and Organizational Behavior. Stateside he has taught at 1 of the only 2 Hospitality programs with a “Timeshare Track” at the University of Central Florida (UCF) – now the largest university in the US with over 65,000 students; the “Principles of Timeshare”.
