Joe Monaghan

Joe Monaghan currently serves as Vice President of Development Capital at Thompson Thrift. In this role, Monaghan focuses on raising capital for large-scale multifamily real estate development projects, working closely with investors and internal teams to structure financing strategies that support Thompson Thrift’s growth objectives. His responsibilities include investor relations, capital sourcing, and strategic planning for development initiatives across key U.S. markets. Prior to assuming his current position in September 2025, Monaghan spent nearly four years as Director of Retail Leasing and Sales at Thompson Thrift, where he managed leasing for mixed-use and grocery-anchored shopping centers throughout the Midwest and Southeast. His career spans over a decade in retail real estate, including roles as Leasing Manager at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, Leasing Associate at Simon Property Group, and Sales Manager at Tactical Fleet. Monaghan also brings leadership experience from his service as a U.S. Marine Corps Infantry Officer in the Reserves, where he held positions as Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer. Monaghan’s background combines expertise in commercial real estate leasing, capital markets, and military leadership, making him a versatile contributor to Thompson Thrift’s development and investment strategies.
