Jeff Cowan

Jeff Cowan joined Savills in 1996, following more than eight years as one of the top performing brokers at Grubb & Ellis Commercial Real Estate Services. As a senior managing director, Jeff specializes in strategic planning, long-term real estate evaluation, and the incorporation of these studies into long-term real estate transactions. He has led numerous Core Delivery Teams in implementing real estate plans that have resulted in lease renegotiation, relocation, fair market renewal negotiation, subleasing, expansion, and facility downsizing. In recent years, he has completed over 350 transactions totaling over 2.5 million square feet. Jeff’s clients includes companies such as Macquarie Cook Energy and New Wave Entertainment. Working closely with Macquarie Cook Energy, Jeff assisted them in assessing their requirements, which included prestigious offices; competitive rates; creative build-out; a large trading room and significant power requirements. Following an established and proven process, Jeff evaluated relocation options which resulted in significant tenant improvement allowances, the ability to take more space, the opportunity to sublease a portion for controlled growth, and lease rates approximately 20 percent below market. Jeff’s experience with creative transactions enabled him to assist New Wave Entertainment in relocating to a single-story, creative environment near all of the major studios. During the discovery phase of the project it was determined that no existing product was available for lease. With that in mind, Jeff, with Savills' Core Delivery Team, focused on a creative solution. The outcome was a sale-leaseback for a completely renovated property, which included a 25 percent equity stake for New Wave at no additional consideration. Activities & Achievements: Jeff has built a formidable tenant representation practice and has completed over 250 transactions totaling well over two million square feet. He continues to provide best-in-class tenant representation for his clients. Education: Jeff received a Bachelor of Arts degree in legal studies from the University of California at Berkeley.
