Jay Gilbert

Jay Gilbert joined Newmark Knight Frank in 2002 at the firm’s Manhattan headquarters as a member of its retail division, Newmark Knight Frank Retail. In this capacity, he represents owners and tenants in their retail real estate needs throughout the New York Metropolitan area. Before coming to Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Gilbert served as associate at Insignia/ESG’s Long Island and Queens offices. At Insignia, he represented tenants and owners on Long Island, including Nassau Radiological Group, GTLB Associates and AVR Realty. At Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Gilbert has been retained by Macchiato Espresso Bars to expand its New York presence and has concluded transactions on behalf of BoConcept (400-unit chain’s #1 store), Jack Rabbit Sports, California Closets, and many others. In addition, he has been appointed Surefoot’s exclusive broker in New York City, recently completing for the number one specialty ski boot retailer a re-location of its Manhattan flagship location on the Upper East Side. Mr. Gilbert was also retained by 400-store French hair salon, Jean-Claude Biguine to expand its New York presence. He has represented more than a dozen landlords in the securing of quality local and national tenants. Most recently, Mr. Gilbert executed a 10,000-square-foot net lease on behalf of landlord Lanson Properties to DelGreco & Company. The lease is recognized as one of the Design District’s most significant transactions in decades. Previously, Mr. Gilbert was affiliated with At Home In Paris, a residential real estate firm in Paris, France. Mr. Gilbert received a BBS in Business Management from Adelphi University. He has also completed coursework at two universities in France.
