Owner and President of Floyd Commercial Properties, Inc., Jim specializes in the acquisition and disposition of raw land in the Charlotte region. He is a native of Conway, SC and holds a BS in Industrial Management from Clemson University. He is a proud husband and father of two successful children. Shortly after receiving his degree, Jim became owner of Carolina Waterbeds later know as Carolina Bedrooms. Under his leadership, the company grew from a single location in Charlotte to 21 stores in all major markets between Richmond and Atlanta. Jim handled all of the company’s real estate during this expansion, which included leasing or buying & renovating existing stores, buying or leasing raw land and building new facilities. During this almost thirty year period, Jim estimates he negotiated over 75 real estate deals for Carolina Waterbeds / Bedrooms. As a Commercial Broker specializing in raw land, Jim spent 3 ½ years with Southern Real Estate and 3 years with Gibson Smith Realty before becoming sole owner and Broker In Charge of Floyd Commercial Properties, Inc.(FCP). Previous rural projects have included tracts as large as 2,600 acres of rural Fairfield County, SC land to 800 acres of lake front property. Both of these tracts are presently being used as recreational properties. Residential properties for single family residential development have been in the 25 to 350 acre ranges that were developed with 50 to almost 1,000 homes each. Multi family properties have been in the 20 to 40 acre range to include from 160 over 500 apartment/condominiums for each development. Jim has created lifelong relationships with many of his clients. A recent client that Jim helped buy over 2,400 acres of land has transformed it into the Carolina Adventure World, which the Charlotte Observer calls “a dream park for ATV riders (carolinaadventureworld.com). As a result, Jim became an equity partner in CAW and enjoys spending adventurous days riding the many trails. Jim is a diversified Broker in commercial real estate and holds memberships with: CRCBR – Charlotte Region Commercial Board of Realtors NAR – National Association of Realtors NCAR – North Carolina Association of Realtors SCAR – South Carolina Association of Realtors (Licensed in both North Carolina & South Carolina) Outside interests include golf, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, snow skiing and ATV riding.
