James Bakker

Bakker joins Lee & Associates as a Senior Associate and brings over a decade of experience in retail, multifamily and mixed-use development, project management, and historic adaptive re-use development. Over the course of his career, Bakker has purchased and redeveloped several properties, including Star Mill and the Montgomery Building in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He has earned numerous awards for his work on the Montgomery Building, including the 2021 AIA SC Honor Award in Adaptive Reuse and Historic Preservation and the 2021 South Carolina Historic Preservation award. Before joining Lee & Associates, Bakker was a Principal at BF Holdings, LLC in Charleston and prior to that, Vice President of Commercial Development at Cothran Properties in Greenville, SC.
