ABOUT

Gary Tober is a seasoned real estate and legal professional currently serving as Director of Real Estate at GoTriangle in the Raleigh–Durham region of North Carolina. He brings deep expertise at the intersection of public transportation, real property, and law, shaped by a career spanning transit authorities, corporate legal practice, and executive leadership. Prior to joining GoTriangle, Gary spent eight years with the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), where he served as Senior Associate Counsel from 2008 to 2016. In that role, he provided legal counsel and representation across a broad range of matters, including real estate transactions, regulatory compliance, procurement, personal injury defense, and general corporate affairs. His work supported complex public-sector operations and large-scale transportation initiatives. Earlier in his legal career, Gary served as Assistant General Counsel for MPW Industrial Services, further strengthening his foundation in corporate and operational legal matters. He is licensed to practice law in both Ohio and North Carolina. Gary is actively engaged in professional and civic leadership. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and has held numerous leadership roles within the legal and transportation communities, including service on the American Public Transportation Association Legal Affairs Committee, the Ohio State Bar Association—where he served as Chair of the Negligence Law Committee—and the Columbus Bar Association, where he was Co-Chair of the Government Agencies Committee. In 2012, he founded the Transportation Law Committee at the Columbus Bar Association and served as its inaugural chair. In addition to his professional work, Gary served on the Board of Directors for Gladden Community House in Franklinton from 2014 to 2016, reflecting his commitment to community engagement and public service. Gary earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Miami University and a Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School.
