Erik Diener was raised in Carol City, Florida. Thanks to the support of his extended family he was able to attend high school at Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory in Hollywood, Florida, where he graduated with honors. Erik moved to Orlando for college and studied accounting at the University of Central Florida, where he graduated magna cum laude. Following college Erik graduated cum laude from Stetson University College of Law in Saint Petersburg, Florida. He also obtained a Master in Business Administration from Stetson University while in law school. Erik began his legal career as an insurance defense attorney. He represented insurers when they were sued for denying or underpaying claims, provided legal opinions, and trained claims adjusters. Erik represented Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, Southern Fidelity Insurance Company, Capitol Preferred Insurance Company, Castle Key, Homeowners Choice Property & Casualty Insurance Company, Florida Insurance Guaranty Association (“FIGA”), and others while working as an insurance defense attorney. Erik stopped representing insurers and began representing policyholders as a sole practitioner in 2011. Soon thereafter Erik partnered up with Peter Mineo, Jr., and Peter John Mineo to form The Mineo Diener Law Firm. Erik helped grow The Mineo Diener Law Firm from three attorneys to eleven attorneys before becoming partners with his brother, Warren, and starting The Diener Firm. Erik is experienced in all stages of the property insurance claim process and property insurance litigation. Erik is also an accomplished appellate attorney.
