Demetri Koutrouvelis

Demetri Koutrouvelis provides strategic advisory services and expert lease negotiations for commercial real estate tenants throughout the Washington, DC metro area and nationwide. As a senior managing director based out of the firm’s DC office, Demetri is responsible for structuring and negotiating new leases, lease renewals, subleases, lease restructures, build-to-suit and sales. Also accountable for business development, Demetri obtains new business by working with his broad network of past and existing clients, as well as professionals across the industry. Throughout his 28-plus years in the industry, Demetri has closed over 5 million square feet of commercial lease transactions across industries such as architecture, engineering, construction, financial services, healthcare, law and nonprofit associations. Additionally, Demetri is equipped with a unique set of skills for a broker. Over the course of his 28 years as a professional, Demetri has worked in architecture, construction, brokerage and transaction management. Prior to joining Savills in 2001, Demetri was a project manager at The Clark Construction Group for five years, where he managed the construction for a high-rise commercial office building on K Street. He also served the preconstruction department at Clark and worked with owners, developers, architects, engineers and subcontractors to determine costs and scheduling of various projects. Before entering the world of construction, Demetri was on the architectural side of real estate. He worked with Gensler as a project architect for three years and for RTKL as an architect for two years. Demetri’s ultimate goal is to maximize savings for clients and he takes great pride in finding ways to structure the best outcome for their needs, acknowledging how transactions vary in size, focus, design, budget, location and future planning. Awards, Achievements and Activities Demetri was formerly employed as a professional instructor in the Master of Real Estate program at Johns Hopkins University, his alma mater. Demetri currently serves on The Catholic University of Architecture, Executive Development Board as an executive committee member. In 2014, the Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Association (CREBA) selected two of Demetri’s deals as a finalist in the ‘Washington, DC Regional Leasing Transaction of the Year’ and ‘Maryland Leasing Transaction of the Year’. He was also honored by CoStar as a ‘Power Broker’ in 2008 and 2007.
