David Hocker, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of David Hocker and Associates, Inc. “DHA”, located in Owensboro, Kentucky, has developed and managed real estate and shopping centers since 1959. Following his 1959 graduation from Kentucky Wesleyan College (BA in business and economics), Hocker has been associated with commercial real estate development and he opened his first shopping center, Wesleyan Park Plaza, in Owensboro, in 1964. Since that time, Hocker has developed more than 40 shopping centers containing over 14 million square feet of retail space located in 13 states. In May 1989, Mr. Hocker was elected Chairman of the International Council of Shopping Centers “ICSC” for a one-year term. ICSC is the trade association for the shopping center industry with over 80,000 members in the United States, Canada and more than 80 foreign countries. He also serves on the ICSC Board of Trustees and he is a Senior Certified Shopping Center Manager, having received this designation from ICSC in 1970. In 1975, Hocker was appointed to the Board of Trustees of Kentucky Wesleyan College; and, in 1980, the Board elected him Chairman. He received an honorary doctoral degree from Wesleyan in 1981 and served as a member of the Council of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities. In 1983, Hocker was honored as the eleventh recipient of the Owensboro Board of Realtors Heritage Award. This award annually recognizes an individual's outstanding community contributions. In 1986 David Hocker was chosen the winner of the Liberty Bell Award - an award given by the Daviess County Bar Association to recognize community leadership. In 1988, Hocker received the "Helping Hand Award" from the National March of Dimes Foundation in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the community in the area of higher education. In 1989, Mr. Hocker received the Arthur Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Real Estate Industry by INC Magazine. In 1995, Mr. Hocker was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Starmount Company, Greensboro, NC, and Owensboro Mercy Health Systems and served as its Board Chairman. In 2004, Mr. Hocker was inducted into the Kentucky Wesleyan College Alumni Hall of Fame. He has continuously served on the Kentucky Wesleyan College Board of Trustees since 1975. David Hocker resides in Owensboro, Kentucky. He has three children, nine grandchildren and two stepsons.
