A former student of Political Science at the University of Genoa, Claudio Bozzo is a much acknowledged leader in the maritime industry who has accomplished a vast amount in his career to date. Having joined MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company in New York in 1994 as a clerk in the intermodal department, Claudio went on to become President and CEO of MSC USA, where he elevated the business to the market leader position in the United States and saw it triple in size in 10 years. Throughout his international career, Mr Bozzo has retained strong ties to his native Italy and maritime roots in Genoa. On a personal level, he holds several honorary positions and titles including Knight (2004) and Commendatore of the Italian Republic (2012). In 2009, he became president of the Italian American Chamber of Commerce. Claudio’s credentials saw him become the youngest-ever company president to join the United Nations International Maritime Hall of Fame in 2011, and two years later he was appointed president of the European Chamber of Commerce in USA. Other nominations have included those for “Person of the Year” from the International Freight Forwarders and Brokers Association, and, the “Connie Award” from the Containerization and Intermodal Institute. In parallel, throughout his career, Bozzo has been recognized for his Italian maritime passion with numerous awards from prestigious international academic and cultural organizations such as Italian Language Intercultural Alliance, American University in Rome and National Italian American Foundation, to name but a few. In 2014, Bozzo was appointed to the newly created global position of Chief Operating Officer at MSC’s global headquarters. Claudio now lives in France, with his wife and three children.
