Carrie Mayo, founder and owner of MAYO, a 100% women-owned business since 2000, has developed her passion for environmental advocacy into a thriving business strategy. As a graphic designer by trade, Carrie transformed her company around the principle of using business as a force for good, providing clients with services that improve both profit and planet. Under her leadership, in 2022 MAYO became a Certified B Corp and a member of 1% for the Planet. Carrie's commitment to sustainability extends beyond her professional life. She has served as an Executive Committee Member of the Mayor of Portsmouth's Blue Ribbon on Sustainable Practices, organized large-scale beach clean-up events, served as Chair of the Waste Reduction & Diversion Committee, and co-founded York Ecohomes. Her efforts have earned her numerous accolades, including Northeast Credit Union's Planet Protector Award, the Maine Source Sustainability Award, and the NHBSR’s Environmental Sustainability Award. When not championing environmental causes, Carrie embraces minimalist living. She has traveled the country twice in her 96 sq. ft. camper van and now resides full-time in an 800 sq. ft. off-the-grid home in York, Maine, embodying her values of conservation and conscientiousness.
