Brian’s philosophy and experience demonstrates promoting operational safety and reliability while improving the overall customer experience, including more than 23 years at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) where he started as a Collector/Rail Motorperson. Safety and customer service have always been important in his career; in the past four months, he led returning the 7000 series vehicles to service, ensuring safe bus alternatives during the upcoming critical Yellow Line construction activities, and successfully opening the Silver Line extension. Brian’s most recent experience includes three years at WSP, one of the world’s leading engineering and professional services consulting firms, where he served as a Vice President in the Transit and Rail division. In that position, he worked with Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) in Atlanta, MBTA in Boston, and the Toronto Transit Commission, to implement industry best practices in agency operational and safety initiatives. Prior to joining WSP, Brian served as Vice President at STV, Inc in their Transportation and Infrastructure division. During his tenure, he provided guidance and project management support on several high-profile initiatives in the US and Canada, specifically for the Baltimore Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) system and OC Transpo in Ottawa. Key areas of focus included improving policies and procedures associated with Control Center Operations and the implementation of metric driven rules and compliance programs. In addition to his consulting work, Brian has performed peer and contracted safety reviews on behalf of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) since 2000, including reviews in Asia, Canada, and the US. These experiences paired with his consulting work have provided unique insight into transit industry leading practices, organizational structures, and polices across the globe.
