Brent L. Mertz, MAI, currently serves as a Senior Vice President in Newmark Valuation & Advisory’s Kansas City, Missouri office. A 17-year valuation professional, Mertz is also a member of Newmark Valuation’s Hospitality, Gaming & Leisure practice. Prior to joining Newmark, Mertz spent 16 years at CBRE, Inc. based in the Kansas City, Missouri office. Mertz is meticulously focused on his client’s needs with proven expertise in markets such as Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and South Dakota. Additionally, Mertz has completed assignments in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Montana, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin. Mertz brings advisory experience in the areas of feasibility, market studies, management selection, plus more. His appraisal experience has consisted of a number of property types including hotels, resorts, vacation rental home resorts, golf courses, RV parks and campgrounds, bowling centers, marinas, rock quarries, casinos, and other operating going concern properties. Mertz’s appraisal practice also includes other special use and leisure real estate properties including sports stadiums, concert venues, religious facilities, and movie theaters. Prior to Mertz’s appraisal practice evolving into hospitality and leisure assets, he has appraised various other property types including apartments, office buildings, medical office buildings, retail shopping centers, regional malls, industrial facilities, cold storage/food processing facilities, residential subdivisions, business parks, mixed-use developments, vacant land, call centers, bank branches, master-planned communities, schools. and universities. Mertz also has been a presenter at various industry conferences and tradeshows, including the Choice Hotels Ownership Council for the Midwest Region, the Best Western National Conference, the Midas Hospitality GM Conference, as well as AAHOA Midwest Region Conference to name a few.
