My father was a broker and later an appraiser, earning the MAI and CRE designations. I started in my family's real estate business in 1980. My first listing was a 3-unit apartment property near Johns Hopkins University. I earned a BS Degree in Business from Loyola College in Baltimore in 1982. In 1986, I earned my CCIM deisgnation as a specialist in Commercial-Investment Real Estate. I also earned my broker's license in 1986. From 1990 to 2000, I ran the property management business at my family's company. Seeing a need to serve clients in the purchase and sale of investment properties, I sold my interest in my family's company and formed my new company, Ben Frederick Realty Inc. where I act as a sole-practioner.
