Location Overview: Abilene, Texas is located off Interstate 20, and 150 miles west of the Dallas/Fort Worth MSA which generates 22.4 percent of their annual visitors. The Econo Lodge Abilene is strategically positioned on 840 US Highway 80 East, and is a desirable location that attracts business and leisure travelers alike. The city boasts seven colleges and universities within the region generating room demand for sporting events, graduations, and activities. The two largest are Abilene Christian University (1.4 miles) and Hardin-Simmons University (3.1 miles) which are both in close proximity to the subject property. During 2016-2017 the city hosted 365 meetings and events, generating $25.6 million into the Abilene economy. The Taylor County Expo Center (2.4 miles) will host several events year-round.
