Located in the heart of Tampa’s Hyde Park Historic District is the Edgewater Building, a 20,302 (net leasable) square foot, three story building. The building was constructed in 1924 as the Hotel Cargyle, the name was changed a short time later to the Edgewater Hotel. Although the use changed, the building was occupied through much of the 1980’s. The building was essentially abandoned in 1987 and in extreme need of repairs and renovation. The development / general contracting team of Bay Villa Developers, Inc. and Azzarelli Builders, Inc. purchased the property in early 1995 and embarked on a complete renovation of the 70 year old structure. Many photographs of the Edgewater Building from the Burgert Brothers Photographic Collection were invaluable tools used in the restoration of the building.
