5272 Robert J. Mathews Parkway was one of the first Research & Development facilities in El Dorado Hills Business Park.
Built in 1983 by Robert J. Mathews this 58,000 sq.ft. building was uniquely designed as a think tank for computer developers and included a large cathedral-like main hall, glass corridors leading to four 2-story office pods each with a reception area, multiple private offices, kitchen and break room space, and restrooms with showers. These pods are where software engineers could concentrate on their work in solitary environments without interruption or distraction, and work through the night if necessary.
After he died, Robert J. Mathews’ memorial service was held in this building and the building sat vacant for many years until acquired and beautifully renovated in 2018.
