Plainfield is situated in the eastern part of the State of Connecticut, close to the border with Rhode Island and roughly midway between US Hwy 6 and Interstate 395, which is located approximately 3 miles to the east. Route 205 is a heavily traveled arterial through the town, connecting these two major travel routes.
