Rising from the restored and repurposed 1930’s façade of a former cinema, The Capitol office development was completed in 2016 by the renowned M&G and Knight Property Group as part of the redevelopment of Union Street through it’s BID (Business Improvement District). Scottish architects Keppie Design were appointed to deliver a landmark office worthy of the site’s history and highly-visible location.
The Capitol comprises seven floors of offices with a mezzanine floor office suite nestled in the listed portion of the building, providing a total of 73,688 sq ft of office accommodation. A retail unit is located on the ground floor extending to 1,427 sq ft. The upper storeys provide all-electric, column-free, and curtain-glazed floor plates offering unobstructed views of the Aberdeen skyline and out to the North Sea. The entrance area, reception, mezzanine office, and retail unit were all constructed within the restored Art Deco entrance and theatre hall creating a unique character for the development.
The building benefits from 80 secure car parking spaces (1:939 sq ft ratio with the ability to implement EV charging), 13 motorcycle spaces, and 34 bicycle racks. The end of journey facilities are well appointed with changing rooms & locker facilities and male/female/ accessible showers.
