In 2015, CC acquired and began redevelopment plans for a 425-acre, environmentally-distressed former EVRAZ steel mill in Claymont, DE (outside Philadelphia). Since acquisition, CDC has been engaged in a robust environmental and economic redevelopment plan designed to bring the distressed site back to productive resuse. In February 2019, redevelopment of the former Claymont Steel Mill site took major strides forward with the announcement of a new $71 million transportation center to break ground in April 2019. "This train station will be a catalyst for new development in Claymont,” said Delaware Governor John Carney. The transit center will accommodate rail, bus, bike, pedestrian, and auto, and is the first step in the construction of First State Crossing – a $500 million development which will include 3.7 million sq/ft of office, retail, light industrial, hotel, and residential.
