In February 2019, redevelopment of the former Claymont Steel Mill site took major strides forward with the announcement of a new $71 million transportation center to break ground in April 2019. The transit center will accommodate rail, bus, bike, pedestrian, and auto, and is the first step in the construction of First State Crossing – a $500 million development which will include 3.7 million sq/ft of office, retail, light industrial, hotel, and residential.
