The Village C Master plan designates the property as “Neighborhood General” which would allow the property to develop at a maximum of 5 dwelling units an acre, but to exercise this option, would need to rezone the property to a Master Planned Unit Development (MPUD). All subject to review from the planning department.
Plans are underway in the Town of St. Leo to rezone the Abbey Golf Course. According to plans obtained form the St. Leo township clerk Ryan Homes plans to build 440 single family homes and 188 townhomes for a total of 628 units.
"The Mohr’s Crossing Planned Unit Development (PUD) proposes a high-quality, single-family residential community on approximately 289 acres, currently consisting of the Abbey Golf Course & Driving Range and vacant land. The applicant is requesting a concurrent Comprehensive Plan Amendment, changing the Future Land Use of the subject property to Medium Density Residential. The project spans multiple parcels, totaling approximately +/-289 acres, and is located at 33502 County Road 52 in San Antonio, Florida, within the jurisdiction of the Town of Saint Leo."
The land is currently owned by ‘The Order of Saint Benedict of Florida’ a religious institution and leased to a golf course operator.
(Anyone seeking more info such as public hearing dates/times and locations should contact the St. Leo Township clerk. Zoning and land use within the township limits are decided by the town council, not Pasco county)
