Recent inquiry made to the City of Everett Planning & Development informs the following: On Chelsea Street itself, there have been a few projects permitted in the past couple of years (20-22 Chelsea Street was permitted in 2023 to construct a 5-story, 17-unit mixed-use building; 81 Chelsea street was permitted in 2022 to construct an 8-unit residential building; 295 Chelsea Street was reviewed in 2024 to construct a 27-unit residential building) In the broader "area," there are thousands of units permitted -specifically within the 100-acres known as the "Commercial Triangle," which exists south of Route 16 between Garvey Street and the Chelsea municipal border. Within the Commercial Triangle, over 4,000 units of housing have been permitted since 2018, with most either under construction or already occupied, and roughly 900 units to begin construction.
