This mixed-use building preserves a component of the historic Black business district on Jefferson Avenue. The nearly 100-year-old property was redeveloped into office and retail space, maintaining the fabric of the corridor while creating new business opportunity.
The EDA played an important role in securing two $250,000 grants from the Port Host Communities Revitalization
Fund and Industrial Revitalization Fund, both of which are administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and
Community Development. The $500,000 in grant funds supported the rehabilitation of 2510 Jefferson Avenue as part
of the implementation of the Choice Neighborhood Initiative and associated Neighborhood Plan.
