LOCATION OVERVIEW
Cherry Square is the only grocery-anchored shopping center serving the greater Northampton community, which is part of the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Metropolitan Statistical Area – also referred to as the Lehigh Valley. The retail trade market for the shopping center further extends seven miles east to Bath, PA as well as north within a 20-minute drive time. The Lehigh Valley is the fastest-growing MSA in Pennsylvania, and its population of 820,000 makes it the third-largest MSA in the state. The MSA’s growth is largely due to its increasing popularity as a lower-cost of-living bedroom community for Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York City. Northampton is located 8 miles north of Allentown and 15 miles west of Easton. The Lehigh Valley’s northern edge borders The Poconos and its eastern section borders the Delaware River, which divides Pennsylvania and New Jersey. From Cherry Square, Northampton’s commercial district, Main Street, runs south into downtown Northampton and intersects with Route 329. Route 329 connects to the west to a major retail artery for the region –MacArthur Road – which runs south directly into Route 22, the busiest state route serving Lehigh County. Route 22 provides quick access to
schools and colleges, health care, and shopping throughout Northampton County.
