The Fairfield Inn & Suites Waycross, a newly built 89-room hotel that opened in July 2024, is the only Marriott-branded hotel in the area and is poised to become the market leader—reaching #1 in RevPAR in January 2025 and surpassing $100 RevPAR in the trailing four months. The hotel benefits from its proximity to major employers such as CSX, Georgia-Pacific, and Rayonier. Waycross is home to CSX Transportation’s largest rail yard in the Southeast and the second-largest in the CSX system, as well as its largest locomotive maintenance and inspection facility. Additionally, six CSX rail lines connect Waycross directly to key markets across the Southeast, driving economic activity in the region. Tourism demand is also on the rise, with Okefenokee National Park—a UNESCO Heritage Site nominee— currently drawing over 250,000 visitors annually, a number expected to grow to 800,000. Further, Finnish housing manufacturer Admares recently announced a $750 million, 2.5-million-square-foot mega factory in Waycross. Receiving its name from its strategic location, ‘where ways cross’, Waycross continues to reinforce
itself as the region’s economic hub.
