These practices, combined with the unique characteristics of the soil and climate, led to the creation of underground spaces and conduits with various functions: cellars, pantries, cool storage areas, and water channels, among others. The construction of these elements, achieved through excavations in the ground and reinforced with brick, has been carried out since at least the Middle Ages. Today, they represent one of the most unique examples of traditional architecture in Castilla-La Mancha—a cultural heritage that we must preserve and protect.
