At 920 feet, Two Prudential Plaza is the world's second tallest reinforced concrete building. Similar in design to Helmut Jahn's Philadelphia skyscraper One Liberty Place, the 63-story tower has chevron setbacks and a diamond-faceted apex. Its spire seems quite stubby in relation to the vertical length of the building. Sitting between One Prudential Plaza and the very tall Aon Building, the height of the Two Pru makes it appear a logical vertical progression.
The project also involved renovation of the One Pru building, a new 1-acre landscaped public plaza and a five-level parking garage. The two buildings share a common mezzanine and are joined by two five-story atriums. The award-winning outdoor plaza with two fountains is a popular, flower-filled space. Its concrete structure also functions as the roof for the complex's mechanical equipment.
