Get to know Homestead
Homestead is the southernmost large community in the greater Miami area, and it sits between Biscayne National Park to the east and the Everglades to the west. As such, it’s a gateway city to those national parks as well as the entrance to the Florida Keys. In spite of its urban proximity and tremendous recent growth, the city still maintains an agricultural character, and the main local entertainments are space-intensive things like swamp tours and animal rescues, berry farms and wineries, rodeos, and auto racetracks. There’s a cute historic downtown but not (yet) much in the way of dining destinations or specialty retail. For those who need to be near Miami but want the room to stretch out, Homestead offers acreage near major highways.
