Statement on Walmart and its decision to relocate in 2019:
Walmart's choice to relocate did not concern J&J Commercial when they recently chose to acquire this property. Due diligence and knowing their business and customer is essential. When J&J Commercial did their study, opportunity is what they saw. The current tenant, Completeful, moved in immediately after acquisition and has continued to thrive.
At 228,000-square feet, 1229 NW Evangeline Throughway was one of the largest Walmarts in the country. Today, Walmart has five smaller locations in the Lafayette MSA that are strategically spaced out.
