Metter, Georgia is experiencing significant growth, with new developments in several key areas. Here's a breakdown of what's coming to the area:
1. Economic and Industrial Development:
Doowon Climate Control America, Inc.: This automotive parts manufacturer is building a new facility in the Metter-Candler County I-16 Industrial Park. The company plans to invest over $30 million and create 200 new jobs, with operations projected to begin in 2026. This is the second automotive supplier to announce a new facility in the county in less than six months.
DAS Corp.: Another automotive parts company, DAS Corp., is establishing a new manufacturing facility in the Candler County Industrial Park. This project is expected to create 300 new jobs and involve more than $35 million in investment. Operations are projected to begin in the latter half of 2024.
Silicon Ranch: A solar collection facility is planned for Metter, which will use approximately 1,028 acres of land. This 80-megawatt solar facility is expected to generate enough electricity to power around 14,000 homes. Construction is anticipated to take about 10 months.
Metter Business Incubator: In partnership with Georgia Southern University, a new business incubator is opening in Metter. This program will focus on agricultural and ag-related businesses, providing resources like office space, internet access, and business coaching.
2. Residential Development:
New Construction Homes: There is a notable increase in new construction homes for sale in and around Metter. Various listings from real estate companies indicate new subdivisions and individual homes being built, with a range of sizes and prices. Examples include new homes in the Foxridge community.
3. Infrastructure and Community Projects:
Road Construction: The city is undertaking road construction projects, including the 2024 LMIG (Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant) project, which involves storm pipe replacement and paving on various streets.
