Formerly know as the Central National Bank Building, the Central Building exterior features a prominent marble surrounded main entrance on Adams Street, with two historic slanted twenty foot flag poles, and three decorative cornices with a blond brick exterior. Granite details meet the decorative brick sidewalks that include numerous trees and fragrant flowers in planters. The sidewalks are also lighted with early 20th century style light fixtures.
The building consists of ten stories above street level and as you enter the building you will be greeted by a beautiful marble lined lobby, terrazzo floors leading to two main elevators and a marble staircase to the second floor. Many of the office suites feature impressive views of the Riverfront, the Courthouse, Caterpillar, and all the activity along Main and Adams streets.
Parking is very convenient in an adjacent parking deck with access to each floor from the deck or deck elevator and stairs. There is also on-street parking available on both Adams and Main streets.
The first three floors of the Central Building were completed in 1914 and the additional seven floors were added in 1931.
The Central Building is located at the center of Commercial activity in downtown Peoria at the intersection of Adams and Main streets. Located just diagonal from Caterpillar, Inc. World Headquarters and directly across from the Courthouse Square.
