The Waterwood Project is comprised of approximately 242 acres of land adjacent to Lake Livingston located 85 miles North of Houston, Texas. The property includes a 9.5 acre Marina, 204 acre Golf Course, 21 acre Camp Ground, and 7.5 acre Residential Tract. Lake Livingston is the largest single-purpose reservoir in Texas at approximately 91,000 surface acres. Waterwood has direct access to scenic Lake Livingston and is anchored by the former PGA Tour Qualifying Golf Course, Waterwood National. The course was designed by renowned Architect, Mr. Pete Dye, who was also instrumental in designing many other PGA courses across the United States including TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra and Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island. Waterwood National was originally opened in the late 1970's and boasted the #1 rated golf course in Texas for several years. Many PGA Tour Players earned their tour cards at Waterwood and 5 went on to win major championships during their careers. In the 2009 the owners closed the course to the public and negotiated an arrangement with the community members to manage the maintenance of the course and keep it in playable condition. In exchange, the members would continue to enjoy the property and play golf. The Waterwood community remains one of the strongest deed-restricted properties on Lake Livingston and currently has 450-500 permanent residents and approximately 1200 developed homesites available to build upon.
