The Clinton Building was constructed in 1927, and is individually eligible for the National Historic Register. It is the only building in Lockport that is on the Erie Canal and overlooks the Locks.
The two-story Modernistic-style building was the first steel beam building in the City of Lockport. It has a gross floor area of 8,946 sq. ft., and a basement level of 2,972 sq. ft. The Clinton Building is the only structure on the block that remains following demolition under the auspices of urban renewal in the early 1970s.
It is privately owned by Thomas Scirto, who operates a jewelry store on the first floor, and a law office on the second floor. Other tenants include a bar in the basement, a diner, a tutoring center, and a vacant store front on the first floor. On the second floor is a law office, two (2) apartments, a music studio, and two (2) currently vacant offices.
