In 2012, “McAllister Plaza was awarded The Outstanding Building of the Year® (TOBY)/Renovated Category by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Southwest Region. The building and its management team were recognized for tenant/employee relations programs, energy management systems, accessibility for disabled people, emergency evacuation procedures, building personnel training programs and overall quality indicators.”


Located in the desirable 281 corridor at 9601 McAllister Freeway, with easy access to Loop 410, Loop 1604 and the Airport.

The five story atrium provides natural lighting and an unusually large number of window offices with great atrium and exterior views. Large planter beds on either side of the atrium are filled with trees, ground cover and various ornamental plants. The primary focal point of the atrium is the glass elevator. The interior and exterior of the cab are finished in shiny brass-colored metal giving it a very sophisticated appearance.

The building has four Dover geared type passenger elevators rated at 2500 pounds each.

The building cooling needs are met by two 300 ton Trane centrifugal woofer-cooled chillers mounted on the basement of the building. Each floor has a 17,000 CFM air handling unit for air distribution with the exception of the twelfth floor which has a 20,000 CFM unit. The air is supplied to an average seven exterior VAV boxes on each floor and four interior VAV boxes. Heating is accomplished by electric heaters in the exterior VAV boxes.

The building has two 300 ton Baltimore Air coil cooling towers located between the building and parking garage.

The building is controlled by a Trane Tracer Summit Energy Management System that was installed in 1999. The 10th floor has DDC thermostats and the remainder of the building has pneumatic thermostats.



This building was awarded an Energy Star label in 2011 for its operating efficiency.
